Start a troop for great incentives

We know what it means to be a Girl Scout, so let's pass it on to someone else! Through March 31, new troops and service units will be rewarded when new troops are formed. Every new troop formed by March 31 will receive a troop starter pack and $2 in the troop account for every new girl added into the troop! The service unit will receive $25 for EVERY new troop formed by March 31. Start a troop and experience the joy of making a positive impact—together!

Every new troop that is started before March 31 will receive:
  • Troop starter pack
    • (1) Girl Guide to Girl Scouting
    • (1) Badge Activity Set
    • (1) Journey Book Set (girl and adult)
    • $25 in their troop account
  • Service Unit will receive $25 for EVERY new troop started before March 31
And, there's more! Each new troop started in February and March will also receive $2 in their troop account for every new girl added into the troop!

Each new troop must:
  • Include at least four new girl members
  • Have at least two approved troop leaders by March 31
  • Maintain active status with visibility in the opportunity catalog until the troop reaches at least 10 members

Celebrate Girl Scout Week 2019

Yay—Girl Scout Week is just around the corner! We are so excited for this special time of year when Girl Scouts of all ages celebrate and show the world what it means to be a Girl Scout!

Girl Scouting was founded on March 12, 1912 by Juliette Gordon Low in Savannah, GA. Juliette gathered 18 girls from her cousin’s school and broke the conventions of the time—reaching across class, cultural, and ethnic boundaries to ensure all girls, including those with so-called disabilities, had a place to grow and develop their leadership skills.

In Girl Scouting, we set this week aside, starting with Girl Scout Sunday and ending with Girl Scout Sabbath on a Saturday, to celebrate our history and spiritual beliefs. Download the calendar above for ideas for celebrating all week long! Check out our Girl Scout Week Pinterest board for a collection of fun activities.

And if you're attending your place of worship on Girl Scout Sunday, download and print these Girl Scout Sunday handouts and bulletin inserts to help spread the word about Girl Scouting and faith.

Make sure you share your fun photos from the week on our Facebook page!

A service opportunity through Girl Scout Week

Happy Birthday, Girl Scouts!

In honor of Girl Scout Birthday on March 12, Beverly’s Birthdays and GSWPA are teaming up to offer girls a way to celebrate Girl Scout-style by giving back to our community!  It’s called Pajama Party for a Purpose.

Beverly's Birthdays, a Pittsburgh nonprofit, provides birthday cheer for children experiencing homelessness and families in need. Since 2012, the organization has recognized 30,000 birthdays—that’s more than eleven birthdays a day!

As part of your troop’s celebration of Girl Scout Birthday and Girl Scout Week, your troop can hold your own Pajama Party for a Purpose to celebrate Girl Scout’s 107th birthday.

Here is how it works:

  1. Fill out this quick form to let Beverly’s Birthday’s know that your troop is planning to hold a Pajama Party for a Purpose at one of your troop meetings to celebrate Girl Scout Birthday. Beverly's Birthdays will provide you with party ideas and talking points to teach the girls about how they are giving back.
  2. On (or around) Girl Scout Birthday on March 12, turn your troop meeting into a Pajama Party for a Purpose. Encourage girls to wear pajamas to the meeting and to bring a NEW pair of pajamas, socks, and underwear to donate to children in need.
  3. During the Pajama Party for a Purpose, take pictures of your celebration and please share them (if permitted) on social media and tag us on Facebook @beverlysbirthdays and @gwspa  and use #joythroughjammies #girlscoutsbday #birthdaycheer
  4. After the meeting, Beverly's Birthdays will coordinate with you to collect any new pajamas/socks/underwear that were donated. Clothes can be dropped off in person at Beverly’s Birthdays headquarters (North Huntingdon, PA), mailed, or someone from Beverly’s Birthdays can come and speak to your troop at a future date/time and collect them.
    • If  pick up or delivery is not feasible for your troop, you must mail or directly ship your donations. Consider using an online store to ship your donations directly to Beverly's Birthdays!
To commemorate your troop's participation, purchase a Girl Scout Birthday patch from our shops!
Girl Scout’s donations will support Beverly's Birthdays newly launched The Birthday Boutique, a mobile fashion truck that travels to their birthday celebrations. Children/families get to board the truck and "shop" for brand new clothing, a new duffel bag, and they receive a Bev's Basics Kit (pajamas, socks, and underwear).

If your troop would like to participate, please complete the survey registration below. Please contact Megs at myunn@beverlysbirthdays.org or 412-720-9737 if you have any questions!
